Gravel Calculator
Work out how much gravel to order.
Ordering gravel
Suppliers sell gravel by the ton or by the cubic yard. The calculator gives both, using a density you can adjust for the type of stone.
Example
With the starting values shown (Length 30 ft; Width 10 ft; Depth 4 in; Density 1.4 tons per cubic yard), Cubic yards comes out as 3.7. Other results include tons: 5.19; cubic feet: 100.
Compaction means you often need about 10% extra. A base layer under a driveway is usually 4 to 6 inches deep, so check with your supplier for your use.
