GPA and CGPA

GPA is your grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the cumulative average over all your semesters, weighted by credit hours. A course with more credit hours counts for more.

Different universities, different tables

Universities in Pakistan, including UAF, COMSATS, UMT, the University of the Punjab and others, each publish their own grade table, and some convert marks to grade points with their own scale. The first tab uses the common 4.0 letter scale (A = 4.00, A− = 3.67, B+ = 3.33 and so on). If your university uses a different table, use the second tab and type the grade points your table gives for each course. Check your university’s rules for official results.

Example

Take six courses with letter grades A, A−, B+, B, A− and A. The credits are 3, 3, 3, 3, 2 and 1, so you have 15 credit hours. The quality points are 12 + 11.01 + 9.99 + 9 + 7.34 + 4 = 53.34, so the GPA is about 3.56.

Updating your CGPA

Use the third tab to add a new semester to your existing record without re-entering every course. This does not handle repeated courses, where your university may replace an old grade, so follow its policy.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my university's CGPA different?

Your university may use a different grade table or rules for repeated courses. Use the grade points tab and follow its policy.

Does credit hours matter?

Yes. A grade in a 4-credit course affects your GPA more than the same grade in a 1-credit course.
