What this calculates
Enter your yearly salary and the calculator works out your income tax, Medicare levy, HELP repayment (if you have a debt) and the pay left over each year, month, fortnight and week. It uses the resident tax rates for 2026-27 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027).
Rates used
- 0% on income up to $18,200
- 15% from $18,201 to $45,000 (cut from 16% on 1 July 2026)
- 30% from $45,001 to $135,000
- 37% from $135,001 to $190,000
- 45% above $190,000
- Medicare levy: 2% of taxable income
- Super guarantee: 12% of your salary, paid by your employer on top
Example
On a $90,000 salary, income tax is $17,520 and the Medicare levy is $1,800. That leaves $70,680 a year, about $5,890 a month. Your employer also pays about $10,800 into super.
What is not included
Very low earners may pay less than the full Medicare levy, and the Medicare levy surcharge, salary packaging, other offsets and other income are not modelled. Rules change each year, so check the ATO website, especially for any new deduction or offset.
