Password Generator
Make strong, random passwords in your browser. Nothing is saved or sent.
Why random passwords
People tend to pick passwords that are easy to guess, and attackers try common patterns first. A long, random password has no pattern to exploit.
How strong is strong?
Strength grows with length and with the number of possible characters. Each extra character multiplies the number of possibilities, so length matters most. The tool estimates strength in bits: roughly 60 bits is strong, and 80 or more is very strong. A 16-character password using all four character types is about 100 bits.
Using passwords safely
- Use a different password for every account.
- Store them in a password manager rather than reusing or memorising them.
- Turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered.
The password is created in your browser with a secure random generator. It is not sent over the internet or saved by this site.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to generate passwords online?
This one runs entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted or stored. As a rule, only use tools you trust.
How long should a password be?
At least 12 to 16 characters for important accounts. Longer is better, especially for your email and password manager.
