Scientific Calculator

A full scientific calculator for your browser. Type or tap, and see recent calculations.

How to use it

Tap the keys or type on your keyboard. The result updates as you type, and pressing Enter or = saves the calculation to the list underneath. Tap a past calculation to bring it back. Brackets close themselves if you leave them open.

What the keys do

  • Deg / Rad switches the unit used by sin, cos, tan and their inverses. With Deg selected, sin(30) is 0.5.
  • x², xʸ, √, ∛, n! give powers, roots and factorials. You can also type 5! directly.
  • ln and log are the natural log and the base-10 log.
  • Ans inserts your last result, and starting with an operator continues from it.
  • % divides by 100, so 200 × 15% is 30.
  • EXP multiplies by a power of ten for numbers like 6.02 × 10^23.

Order of operations

Brackets first, then powers and roots, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. So 2 + 3 × 4 is 14, not 20.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my sine answer wrong?

Check the Deg / Rad key. A calculator set to radians treats sin(30) as 30 radians, which gives about −0.988.

How accurate is it?

It shows up to 12 significant digits, which is enough for school and everyday work. Very large and very small results switch to scientific notation.
