VA Mortgage Calculator
Estimate a VA loan payment, including the funding fee.
How VA loans work
VA loans are guaranteed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible service members, veterans and some spouses. They typically need no down payment and no monthly mortgage insurance. In place of insurance there is a one-time funding fee, which can be added to the loan.
Example
A 350,000 home with no down payment on a first VA loan has a funding fee of 2.15% (about 7,525). The loan is about 357,525, principal and interest are about 2,201 at 6.25%, and with tax and insurance the total is about 2,622 a month.
The funding fee rates here are the schedule in recent years and can change, and some borrowers are exempt, so confirm with the VA or your lender. Closing costs and limits on how much the VA will guarantee are not included.
Frequently asked questions
