GFR Calculator (eGFR)

Estimate kidney function from a creatinine blood test using the CKD-EPI 2021 equation.

What eGFR shows

The glomerular filtration rate measures how well your kidneys filter blood. Doctors estimate it (eGFR) from a creatinine blood test, your age and your sex. A normal value is around 90 or above, and values persistently below 60 for three months or more can point to chronic kidney disease.

Example

With the starting values shown (Serum creatinine 1; Creatinine unit mg/dL; Age 40 years; Sex Male), Estimated GFR comes out as 98. Other results include ckd stage by gfr: G1: normal or high.

Stage G1 and G2 indicate chronic kidney disease only when there are other signs of kidney damage. The estimate can be off in people with unusual muscle mass, certain diets and some illnesses. Only a doctor can interpret your results, so please discuss them with your healthcare provider.
