Convert Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin with the formulas shown.

The three scales

Celsius is used in most of the world and sets water’s freezing and boiling points at 0 and 100 degrees. Fahrenheit is common in the United States. Kelvin starts at absolute zero and is used in science.

Formulas

  • °F = °C × 9/5 + 32
  • °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
  • K = °C + 273.15

Example

25 °C × 9/5 + 32 = 77 °F. Body temperature of 37 °C is 98.6 °F, and water boils at 212 °F.
